No sound on iPad after iOS update

After playing around with all the lovely new features of iOS5, you come back to the the one game you’ve been playing for months – you love this game – but wait, what’s that!?! No Sound!!

It seems there’s a little bug in iOS (not just iOS5) that struggles with the toggle switch.

We all know that you can change the functionality of the toggle switch from Mute to Screen Rotate Lock. What has been happening for some users is after a restore or update some apps have no sound. It appears to be an issue with detected in what state the toggle switch is in.

I have no idea why it only affects some apps/games but hey, it’s a bug… it shouldn’t affect any!

It’s a really quick and easy fix.

Go to Settings and change the Toggle Switch from Mute to Lock Rotation (or visa-versa) and then back to your original setting.

Easy as that :)

    Baz,

Thanks very much for posting this, I’m in Bahrain and without an apple shop to support me = you saved me a lot of time!

    Cheers fella

Hey thanks! I think we need to ‘unmute’ it before switching the toggle settings to rotation lock.

@bdreamer – i imagine it’s the same problem so i’d be surprised if this fix doesn’t work. I can’t confirm if it does or not as i’ve not had the problem on an iPhone.

If it doesn’t work, it may be worth trying to set the toggle back to mute, make sure the actually switch itself is in un-mute position and restore iOS via iTunes.

      Hi,

Go to Settings > General then there’s an option titled ‘Use Side Switch To:’
