Calculate Amps Per Phase with PowerCalc

Most of you won’t actually know, but my day job lies within the UPS Industry.

We often get potential customers calling in advising us of their load requirements – the majority will give us a kW figure, which is nice and easy, but some will present us with Amps per phase.

We need to take this information and convert it to either kW or kVA for us to size a suitable UPS.

The calculation is: Amps x Volts x 1.73205081 / 1000

Fairly straight forward, but a lot of number to remember.

For this reason, I decided it would be better to make a simple calculator that our guys in the office can run and let it do the maths for them.

It’s super simple to use, can calculate 3 phase Amps per phase, 1 phase loads, and also has a heat conversion tools (Watts to BTU and back)

Requirements:

  • Windows XP or Higher
  • Dot Net Framework 2 or Higher
Installation:
PowerCalc is a standalone program and does not require any installation on your system.
Simply unzip the .exe file and double click to run :)
